Robertson Signs With Horsholm 79ers

Sept. 29, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - It was recently announced that former La Salle Women’s Basketball forward Morgan Robertson signed a professional contract to play overseas with the Horsholm 79ers, a team just outside of Copenhagen, Denmark.

With it, she continues a trend that started in six years ago with former Explorers signing professional contracts to play in Europe. It started with Monica Garrido-Sanz, a 2005 graduate, who is still playing in Spain, and continued with Davineia Payne (2006), Crista Ricketts (2007), and Carlene Hightower (2008).

Robertson ended her La Salle career with 921 points, 598 rebounds in 115 games played. She led the Explorers in points and rebounds during both her junior (12.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and senior (10.1, 5.8) seasons. She also started and played in 72 of her team’s last 73 games, missing just one due to injury.

She was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s 2010 Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year, the school's first in the sport. Robertson posted a 3.89 grade point average with a dual major in psychology and political science to earn the honor. With the award, she also repeated as an Academic All-Conference selection, also a first at the school for women's basketball, and in her college career, earned nine total academic honors.

The official website of the 79ers can be viewed here, but is in the Danish language. However, Robertson’s signing is the top story on the site and her name and head shot, along with “La Salle University” can be clearly seen in the release.
