WEST HARTFORD, CT - La Salle Women's Soccer won its third game of 2010 thanks to goals from Jourdan McVicker and Anna Dolhansky and its defense, which allowed just seven total shots, as Gabby Pakhtigian earned a 2-0 victory in net against Hartford, Friday night at Alumni Stadium.
Pakhtigian needed to make just two saves on the evening to pick up her second save of the season, the fifth of her career. She now has seven wins in 11 career starts, ranking tied for eighth all-time at the school, and her five career blankings are already sixth all-time.
She had to make her first stop at the 12:30 mark of the match, off a shot by Breeanna Robinson, which resulted in a corner.
Hartford (1-3) would not capitalize on its only corner of the night, and would not register another shot on goal for the next 59 minutes as the Explorers built a two-goal lead.
La Salle (3-2) broke a scoreless tie as McVicker tallied her first collegiate goal for La Salle in the 31st minute off of Kierstyn Mabey's team-leading third assist of the season.
Dolhansky added an insurance goal just 59 seconds into the second half, which was her second of the young season. She is tied for second on the team in goals and is tied for the team lead in points (6). The tally came off a feed from Morgan Golden, her first of the year, the seventh of her career.
The Explorers will now face Central Connecticut State, a 2-1 winner over Columbia in the opening game of the tournament, on Sunday at 11 AM.
