ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
Freshman Nick Ross posted an IC4A-qualifying 8:21.41 in the 3,000-meter run, the fastest-ever time for a true freshman at La Salle, to lead the Explorers at the Welsey A. Brown Invitational hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday.
Ross took fourth in the event and was one of five Explorers to post individual IC4A qualifying times at the meet.
“It was a big invitational and most of the races were quick and a little more bunched,” head coach Charles Torpey said.
Nick Crits posted an IC4A-mark 4:10.20 in the mile, finishing fifth in the event.
Terence McPeak (1:53.89) and Paul Reilly (1:53.93) each posted IC4A qualifying times in the 800m, notching third- and fourth-place finishes in the event, respectively.
In the 5,000m run, Joe Beveridge ran 14:42.26, qualifying for IC4As and finishing fourth overall in the event.
The men’s DMR also reached an IC4A mark, with Colin Barrett, Andrew Lynch, Kevin Day and Kasey Geller combining for a 10:17.68, good for second in the race.
“The DMR did decent today,” Torpey said. “With snow on the track, it’s difficult to be in great shape. It’s difficult to get in the type of training you want on treadmills.”
La Salle will be back in action at the Collegiate Invitational in New York next weekend.
