Indoor Track Begins 2011 At Metro College Invitational

NEW YORK, NY - Junior Nick Crits finished second in the 1000m to lead the La Salle indoor track team at the Metro Coaches Invitational on Friday at the Armory in New York City. He finished in a time of 2:28.31 to meet IC4A qualifying standards. Crits also anchored the 4x800 relay team that won the event in an IC4A qualifying time of 7:46.88.

The 4x800 relay was comprised of Wayne Bartholomew, Steve Kandetzke, Sean Mallon, and Crits and beat runner-up Southern Connecticut by nearly five seconds.

Kandetzke, a freshman, was also sixth in the 800m (1:57.37). while classmate Kevin Day was eighth in the same event (1:57.97). Bartholomew came in 12th in the 1000m as well (2:35.35).

Junior Kasey Geller placed fourth in the 3,000m (8:42.37) while sophomore Daniel Day was seventh (8:49.45).

In the mile, sophomore Matthew Finn finished 8th in a time of 4:27.43 while freshman Colin Barrett was tenth in 4:28.15.

On the women's side, La Salle's Colleen Boland finished fifth in the 3000m (10:34.41) while teammates Alyssa Mullen (8th, 10:58.56), Katheen Boland (11th, 11:05.48), and Nicole Shiavone (14th, 11:16.75). also ran well.

The 4x400 relay placed sixth in a time of 4:05.42 and was comprised of Lolita Thomas, Dominique Best, Karim Brooks and Chelsea Harris. Brooks also finished fifth in the 800 (2:24.09).

The Explorers are back in action today at the Penn State Relays.

Junior Jerome Brown was 10th in the 60m (7.13) and 10th in the 200m (22.84).
