Swimming & Diving Drops Meet To Penn

PHILADELPHIA - The men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams fell to Penn in the Explorers’ last meet at Kirk Pool this season.

The La Salle women’s team lost 163-131, while the men’s squad was defeated 181.5-113.5.

Jessica Carbin led the Explorers with a pair of first-place finishes.  She won the 200-back (2:08.61) and 200-IM (2:16.96).

Jessica Simunek won the 200-breast (2:26.44) and came in third in the 100-breast (1:09.21).

Elizabeth Jordan touched second in the 500-free (5:11.01).  Holly Biro came in second in 100-free (54.39) and third in the 100-fly (1:01.60).

Alex Stoddart finished second in the 200-IM (2:22.58) and third in 100 back (1:01.83)

For the men, Austin Thomas won the 50-free (21.38), as well as the 200-IM (2:03.44).  Robby Gravel came in second in the same event (2:05.55).

Charlie Zettel won the 200-fly (1:55.06).

Blase Szyszko picked up a pair of second-place finishes in both 100-(59.83) and 200-breast (2:12.60).

Brian Batson finished second in the 200-free (1:44.57) and then tied for second in the 100-free (48.68).

On the diving board, Laurie McLaughlin took the 1-meter (242.78) and 3-m (250.95) dives, while Jordan Baker finished third in both the men’s 1-m (251.55) and 3-m (272.55).

The Explorers will complete their final dual meet before the Atlantic 10 Championships when they travel to swim St. Francis (PA) on Saturday.
