Feb. 22, 2011

PHILADELPHIA, PA – With the conclusion of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championships this past weekend, eight La Salle student-athletes were honored for their performances and were named to the All-Atlantic 10 team, announced Tuesday by the conference office.

The all-conference team is based on how each athlete finished in their respective events. La Salle had eight second place finishes which earned second team All-Atlantic 10 honors.

Headlining the list on the men’s side is junior Terence McPeak (Audubon, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) who finished second in the 800-meter run and was a member of the 4x800-meter relay team which also came in second place.

Prior to the race in the A-10 Championships, McPeak had already posted two IC4A qualifying times in the 800-meter in addition to a qualifying mark in the 1,000-meter.

Senior Trevon Rainford (Elkins Park, PA/Engineering and Science) was also a member of the 4x800-meter relay team in addition to finishing second overall in the 1,000-meter.

Freshman Nick Ross (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) had perhaps the most memorable performance of the meet and finished second in the 3,000-meter race in addition to helping pace the distance medley relay team which also finished second overall.

Ross was also awarded the Most Outstanding Rookie Performance award for his efforts over the weekend.

Junior Nick Crits (Ambler, PA/Wissahickon) helped the Explorer cause and was a member of both the 4x800-meter relay and distance medley relay teams. Crits has already posted IC4A qualifying marks in the 1,000-meter, mile and 3,000-meter events.

Sophomore Paul Reilly (Dresher, PA/Upper Dublin) rounded out the 4x800-meter relay team. Reilly has also already posted IC4A qualifying times in the 800 and 1,000-meter events.

Sophomore Wayne Bartholomew (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) and junior Sean Mallon (Feasterville, PA/Archbishop Ryan) rounded out the distance medley relay, helping La Salle to a second place finish overall.

On the women’s side, the lone all-conference selection was sophomore Megan Lutz (Langhorne, PA/Nazareth Academy) who finished second overall in the 5,000-meter race.

Lutz has already posted ECAC qualifying marks in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter events.

The IC4A/ECAC Championships will be held March 5-6 in Boston, MA.
