Edward Carnes set a new school record in the 100-fly, swimming a 49.16, while 16 qualified to return to the pool this evening in event finals and consolation finals on day three of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
Carnes’ 49.16 was the second-fastest time on the day in the 100-fly. Austin Thomas (4th; 49.78) and Charlie Zettel (5th 50.06) will also return for the finals in the evening.
In the 200-free, Zach Anderson qualified with the fourth-fastest time (1:41.75).
La Salle will send two to the women’s 100-breast finals after Elizabeth Jordan (1:04.87) and Jessica Simunek (1:05.69) swam the second and fifth-best times.
In the men’s 100-breast, Blase Szyszko turned in the fourth-fastest time (57.18).
Jessica Carbin qualified seventh in the 100-back (57.50).
On the men’s side Dan Fitzgerald (50.74), Dave Derr (51.18) and Carnes (51.22) will return for the 100-back finals this evening.
On the diving board, Laurie McLaughlin and Courtney Gress qualified in the 3-meter event.
La Salle will also be represented in the consolation finals.
Joe Jung (4:08.72), Tom Lawrie (4:10.16) and Robby Gravel (4:12.07) will swim in the 400 IM race.
Dave Derr (51.20) will compete in the 100-fly, while Sean McCall will swim the 200-free (1:42.90).
This evening's competition will begin at 6:30 p.m.
