The La Salle men’s swimming & diving squad took third at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championships, while the women’s team ended tied for fourth place.
The men picked up 452 points, while Massachusetts finished on top with 764.5 points.
The La Salle women finished tied with St. Bonaventure at 343 points. Richmond claimed the women’s crown after earning 755 points.
In the final day of competition, the La Salle women broke two school records.
The 400-free relay team of Holly Biro, Katie Snee, Alex Stoddart and Elizabeth Jordan broke the record set at last year’s championships by clocking a 3:26.06 to take third.
Biro also broke her own school record in the 100-free, posting a 51.21 to top her 51.64 time from last season.
La Salle went 2-3 in the 100-free with Biro taking second and Jordan finishing third (51.31).
Emily Heath placed fourth in the 1650 free (16:49.32).
Jessica Simunek took fifth in the 200-breast (2:20.97). Heath placed tenth in the event (2:23.75), while Olivia Armater was 16th (2:29.53).
Jessica Carbin came in 14th in the 200-back (2:07.27).
In the 200-fly Adriana Correa came in 12th (2:08.59).
On the men’s side, Charlie Zettel picked up a silver for the Explorers in the 200-fly, swimming a 1:50.05. In the same event, Joe Jung was seventh (1:53.29), Robby Gravel came in 10th (1:53.46), Sean McCall in 15th (1:57.65) and Greg Fischer in 16th (1:57.65).
Blase Szyszko touched fifth in the 200-breast (2:04.53), while Eric Patenaude was 10th (2:06.91).
In the men’s 200-back, Tom Lawrie (1:51.14) and Edward Carnes (1:53.25) placed ninth and 15th, respectively.
Austin Thomas posted a seventh-place finish in the 100-free (45.84)
In the 1650 free, Greg Fischer came in 12th (16:22.69).
Over the four-day meet, La Salle picked up one gold, five silver and three bronze medals. The Explorers also set new school records in ten events.
