PHILADELPHIA - Senior Ashley Gale has been named the GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced today by the La Salle Office of Athletic Communications.

Gale registered her 1,000th career point during the Explorers’ 69-54 victory over Fordham on national television on Sunday afternoon. She became the 23rd player in La Salle program history to reach that mark.

During La Salle’s 1-1 week, Gale averaged 21 points, five rebounds and three assists per game, including a game-high 25 points against the Rams.

With five steals against Xavier last Wednesday, Gale moved into ninth all-time in career steals at the school.  Gale’s 169 career steals surpassed the 166 that Carlene Hightower posted from 2004-08.  Gale has registered 68 steals so far this season and currently sits seventh all-time in steals in a single-season at La Salle.  

The Explorers will look to extend their A-10 winning streak against Rhode Island at Tom Gola Arena on Wednesday evening.
