SPRINGFIELD, PA - The La Salle golf team carded its best team score since September 17, 2006 with a 300 to win the Swarthmore Invitational on Monday at Rolling Green Golf Club. Freshman Michael Johnson was the medalist with a 71 (+1), becoming the first Explorer to win a tournament since John Lorenzo at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational on September 26, 2006.

The team score of 300 (+16) was the lowest total since the Explorers had a 295 at the Bucknell Bison Invitational in the fall, 2006.

Freshman Tommy Horgan finished second with a career-low 72 (+2). Junior Ed Carnes was fourth with a 77 (+7), while classmate Tyler Batory carded a 80 (+10) to tie for seventh. Freshman Chris Costantino had an 84 (+14) to finish 12th.

Host Swarthmore finished escond with a 313, followed by Immaculata (332), University of the Sciences (349), Swarthmore "B" (353) and Rowan (356).

La Salle is back in action on April 4 at the Penn Quaker Classic at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
