Baseball Weekend Wrapup

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Riding a seven-game winning streak, the La Salle baseball team coninutes to push towards Atlantic 10 play with a mid-week contest on Tuesday at home against Villanova. 

The Explorers were a big winner over the weekend, sweeping their four home contests in the Big 5 Baseball Bash against Manhattan, Saint Peter's (doubleheader) and New York Tech.

Brendan Norton and Jon Gyles each had game-winning hits in La Salle's back-to-back walk-off wins Friday against the Jaspers and Saturday against the Peacocks.  

Pat Christensen pitched in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, earning the win in game one and the save in game two.

Shane Petrellis also appeared in two games during the week, putting in a pair of seven-inning performance and earning the vicories in Tuesday's win over Coppin State and Sunday's win over New York Tech.

The Explorers (11-8) played Villanova twice last season, losing both times and have lost six straight to the Wildcats overall.  The last victory for La Salle over Villanova came on March 13, 2007.  

After Tuesday's matchup with Nova, the Explorers will gear up for their first Atlantic 10 action of the season as they will welcome Fordham to Hank DeVincent Field for a three-game series.
