PHILADELPHIA - La Salle freshman golfer Michael Johnson has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second time in the past three weeks, it was announced today. He also was named the GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week as well.

Johnson was the medalist with a 1-over par 71 to claim the Swarthmore Invitational at the Rolling Green Golf Course last Monday. The freshman from Ambler, Pa., (Hatboro-Horsham) became the first Explorer to win a tournament since John Lorenzo took first place at the Rehoboth Invitational on September 26, 2006.

The rookie is averaging a team-best 75.9 strokes per round this season, with a season-best round of 70.

The La Salle golf team also carded its best team score since September 17, 2006 with a 300 (+12) to win the Swarthmore Invitational by 13 strokes.

The Explorers return to action on April 4 at the Penn Classic at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
