Women's ECAC Full Results
BOSTON, MA – The La Salle track team finalized the indoor season earlier this afternoon on the second and final day of the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships held at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
“Everything went pretty close to form,” said head coach Charles Torpey. “We didn’t have a lot of events so we had to be strong in the ones we competed in.”
The most impressive performance on the men’s side came in the two relays that the squad raced in, the distance medley and 4x800m. The team of Nick Crits, Paul Reilly, Wayne Bartholomew and Terrence McPeak recorded a fourth place overall finish in the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:28.02.
That mark is not only four seconds faster than the time posted in Saturday’s preliminary heat, but is also a school record.
“We would have liked to have won it, but those guys ran a great relay,” Torpey added.
The men’s distance medley also ran two solid races, finishing seventh out of 25 teams in the preliminary heat on Saturday before posting an eighth place finish overall in Sunday’s final heat.
Kevin Day, Justin Fowler, Colin Barrett and Sean Mallon posted a faster time in the preliminary heat with a season-best mark of 9:56.91.
On the women’s side, Caitlin Storbeck finished eighth overall in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:54.83. It was also the best mark for any La Salle female runner during the indoor season.
Megan McGlinchey also finished 12th overall in the 3,000m with a personal-best time of 9:49.73.
“Those were the top two performances on the women’s side,” said Torpey.
La Salle was unable to qualify any participants for the NCAA Regionals, scheduled to be held next weekend in College Station, Texas.
“It’ll be our goal for the spring to qualify some of our people for the NCAA’s. I’d rather win then set a school record,” said Torpey.
However, with a couple of weeks off before the outdoor season begins, the head coach is pleased with his team’s development over the indoor season.
“We just want to keep building and competing. We are a young team on both sides but I really thought we had a great indoor season.”
The outdoor season is scheduled to begin the weekend of March 18-19.
