Softball Drops Twinbill In First Day Action Of Rebel Games

KISSIMMEE,FLA.--La Salle Softball opened play at the Rebel Spring Games Monday morning. In Day one action, the Explorers were swept by Holy Cross by a score of 7-2 and to Loyola-Chicago by a count of 5-2.

Freshman Emily Moran made her second start as a La Salle Explorer against Holy Cross, as she went 2-for-3 with 2 runs batted in. Senior Ali Shepherd also went 2-for-3 with a double and a single in the Explorers 7-2 defeat.

La Salle opened its game with the Rambles of Loyola-Chicago by putting up a two-spot in the first inning, Shpeherd delivered for the Explorers with one out and with sophomore Liz Reed already at first base after a leadoff walk in the inning. On Shepherd's single into left field, Reed scored. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, freshman Emily McBride walked with the bases loaded to force in another run for the Explorers.

Seniors Kristen Paoletti and DJ Guinn were each charged with a loss Monday.

The Explorers fall to 1-5 on the season, before picking up play in the second day of action at the Rebel Spring Games on Tuesday when they take on Yale at 9 a.m. and Bryant at 11 a.m.
