A-10 First Round Commences In Olean As Explorers Take On Bonnies

The La Salle men's basketball team will look to continue its season when it visits St. Bonaventure on Tuesday at 5 PM. The game will be televised on CBS College Sports with Matt McConnell (play-by-play) and Vince Curran (color) on the call.

The Explorers earned the tenth seed and is 6-5 in Atlantic 10 opening round games and have won two of its last three. LU has never played St. Bonaventure in the A-10 Championship.

La Salle is ranked in the top three in five offensive categories in the Atlantic 10. (Offensive Rebounding/14.3/1st; Rebounding/38.7/2nd; Scoring/76.9/2nd; 3-Point Pct./.360/2nd; FT Pct./.714/3rd.

Sophomore Aaric Murray leads the team in scoring (15.1 ppg.) and rebounding (7.5 rpg.), while senior Jerrell Williams adds 13.7 ppg. and 7.5 rpg.

With two steals at Temple, freshman Tyreek Duren set the program record for steals by freshman (57) previously held by Kareem Townes (1992-93). He is third in the A-10 in steals/game (1.8) and sixth nationally among freshmen. Duren's 138 assists are the most by an Explorer since Julian Blanks had 164 in 2001-02. He was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team on Monday.

St. Bonaventure Bonnies (16-13, 8-8 A-10)
Conference: Atlantic 10

St. Bonaventure earned the #7 seed as a result of its 8-8 conference record (16-13). The Bonnies defeated La Salle on February 12, 82-61, behind 24 points from Andrew Nicholson.

Nicholson leads the team in scoring at 20.5 ppg. and rebounding at 7.2 rpg. Michael Davenport (11.8), Ogo Adegboye (11.4) and Demetrius Conger (10.1) all add double-figures.

The Series
The series is tied at 11-11, with St. Bonaventure holding a 7-4 record at home. Dr. John Giannini owns two of La Salle's four wins in Olean, NY.
