PHILADELPHIA- The rains have passed through the Philadelphia area, so there will be softball played at West Campus Field on Tuesday afternoon when the Explorers host their city rival, the Drexel Dragons for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
La Salle (2-24, 0-8) returns home for the first time since April 2 when it was swept by the Charlotte 49ers. The Explorers are beginning a six-game homestand today as well as a span in which they will play 12 of their next 14 games at West Campus Field.
Senior Ali Shepherd comes into Tuesday's twinbill with the team lead in batting average (.263) along with a streak in which she's hit her way on base in eight of her last nine games.
Drexel (8-20, 1-8) is coming to La Salle after dropping a two-game set to Georgia State this past weekend.
Junior Paige Collings is the Dragons' leading hitter this season with a .353 batting average. So far this season, Collings leads te team wit 30 hits,six home runs, 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Drexel's pitching staff is posing a 3.98 ERA this season. Junior Hilary Allen leads the staff with nine complete games and 58 strikeouts in 16 appearances.
