OLEAN, NY - The La Salle baseball team has yet to arrive in Olean for their weekend series against Atlantic 10 foe St. Bonaventure but Mother Nature has already made an impact on their trip.
Due to impending weather on Saturday, the Explorers and Bonnies will get two games in on Friday, with a doubleheader scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
With Saturday most likely a wash, the series will conclude on Sunday afternoon with first pitched scheduled for noon. La Salle swept St. Bonaventure at home last season, shutting out the Bonnies in game one followed by a pair of one-run victories on Saturday and Sunday to earn the series win.
The Explorers (18-13, 5-4) currently sit in fourth place in the Atlantic 10 and are fresh off a sweep of city-rival Temple last weekend in Ambler. In that series against the Owls, La Salle held the top-hitting team in the nation to just 13 combined runs in three games.
The Bonnies (10-15, 2-4) are coming off an impressive performance of their own, taking two-of-three from Fordham in the Bronx last weekend, their first two victories in A-10 play after being swept at Richmond in their conference opener earlier this month.
La Salle will send RHP Kevin Fuqua (2-3, 3.59), LHP Eric Van Wyk (2-0, 2.63) and RHP Cody Weiss (3-4, 6.33) to the hill this weekend. Van Wyk was the only starter of the three to earn a victory against Temple last weekend but all three pitched effectively against a very potent Temple lineup.
St. Bonaventure's only announced starter is LHP Eddie Gray (3-1,23.14) and he will pitch game two of the doubleheader on Friday.
Live audio of the doubleheader will be available and live stats for all three games are also available and can be accessed on the schedule section on the La Salle baseball homepage.
