FOR COMPLETE RESULTS
The Freshman Eight continues highlighting women's rowing action this weekend as the team competes at the Atlantic 10 Championships on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. The boat took third place in the grand final with a time of 8:49.69, finishing behind Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island. Senior Kelli Karver was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Rowing All-Championship Second Team.
Weather impacted the last few races of the day, including the Freshman Eight races which were reduced to 1,750 meters, rather than the typical 2,000 meters. The Freshman Four, Lightweight Four and Quad finals were all cancelled.
La Salle also had boats racing in the Varsity Eight and Varsity Four categories.
The Eight crossed the line with a time of 9:07.56, qualifying the boat for the petite final. First place in the heat went to Rhode Island with a time of 8:23.12. In the petite final, the Eight finished with a time of 9:10.46, which put them in third. The gold medal in the Varsity Eight grand final went to Dayton.
La Salle also had two Varsity Four boats entered. The Varsity Four A boat posted a time of 11:19.91 in their heat, qualifying the boat for petite finals. First place in the heat went to Massachusetts who finished with a time of 9:33.39. In the petite final, the Four finished with a time of 12:55.53, which put them in third. The gold medal in the Varsity Four A grand final went to Rhode Island.
The Varsity Four B boat finished with a time of 12:26.27, which put the boat in sixth place of the grand final. First place went to Rhode Island who posted a time of 10:13.80.
Overall, Saint Joseph's was crowned A-10 rowing champions in a three-way tie with 45 points. Massachusetts and Rhode Island also earned 45 points, but the Hawks took home the trophy because of their second place finish in the Varsity Eight event. La Salle finished the day in ninth place with four points.
The next race day for La Salle Rowing will be April 30 for the Bergen Cup on the Schuylkill River.
