Bison Outdoor Classic Results
Moravian Greyhound Invitational Results

BETHLEHEM, PA - With another weekend of meets in the book, the La Salle track team continues to improve as they gear up for warmer weather and more intense competition in the coming weeks.

This past weekend, the Explorers competed sparingly in two separate meets at Bucknell and Moravian.

At the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday, only five Explorers competed with three men running in the 10,000-meter run and two women in the 5,000-meter.

Junior Richard Klauber had the most impressive performance at Bucknell, qualifying for IC4A's in the 10,000-meter event with at time of 30:57.94. The mark is the second fastest for La Salle in the 10k so far this season, 34 seconds slower then freshman's Joe Beveridge's mark set earlier in April.

"Richard had a really good race," said head coach Charles Torpey. "The wind was howling and the weather wasn't ideal, but I was still pleased with how our team competed."

Colleen Boland had the most impressive female performance, finishing 10th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:08.23.

On Sunday at Moravian, the men's 1,500-meter race was La Salle's strongest event with six Explorers finishing in the top 22. Freshman Kevin Day (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) had the highest finish, placing ninth overall in the final heat with a time of 4:02.20.

"All the 1,500 guys ran well," Torpey added. "It was a weird weekend because we had a lot of people racing in different events then they were used to. We were trying to mix it up and everybody competed really well. We are still trying to figure out where we stand when it comes to whom we are going to take to A-10's. There are a lot of kids competing for those final few spots."

The top distance and middle distance runners will return to their regular race schedules this weekend when La Salle competes in two more meets, Widener on Thursday night and Princeton on Friday.
