PHILADELPHIA -
La Salle head men's soccer coach Pat Farrell will be inducted into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame on May 14, it was announced today. Farrell recently completed his 24th season as the head coach at La Salle and has been associated with the program since 1971 as a player, assistant and head coach.
"It is quite an honor to be inducted into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame," Farrell said. "I'd like to thank the many outstanding players and coaches that I've worked with and learned so much from and the selection committee for choosing me."
Farrell received Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors in 2010 for the second time in his career after leading the Explorers to the conference championship game. The all-time winningest coach in program history with 181 victories, he played for the Explorers from 1971-74 and was an assistant coach under Bill Wilkinson from 1976-86.
Two players, Cesidio Colasante and Ryan Richter, were drafted by MLS teams and Farrell has produced numerous all-conference and all-region players during his tenure.
He is a longtime coach with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer and in 2010, he led the Under-16 Boys team "PSC Coppa" to state and regional victories in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series (NCS). He coached them to near victory for the national title. Farrell also served as an Eastern Pennsylvania ODP coach.
