ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Junior
Mariam Colon and freshman
Rebecca Smith each improved on their first-round scores as the La Salle women's golf team concluded play at the Navy Spring Invitational on Sunday.
Colon shaved an impressive six shots off her score and closed at 178 to finish in 53rd place, four spots ahead of where she closed day one. Smith also had a better day on Sunday than she did Saturday, shooting a team-best 85 to remain in a tie for 43rd individually.
As a team, the Explorers finished in 12th place while the trio of freshmen
Mary Eyde and
Bella Ritzel, and graduate student
Kendra Heyer also competed at the two-day event.
Harvard shot its second straight round of 310 to take the team title by 19 strokes over Lehigh. A pair of golfers for the Crimson - Anna Zhou and Michelle Xie - shared medalist honors.
La Salle concludes its first official season as a varsity sport at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., on April 21-21.
