Brian Dobak

Brian Dobak enters his second year as the assistant coach for the La Salle men's golf in 2023-24.

Dobak is a former PGA Golf Professional having worked at some of the finest golf clubs in the United States with strong player-development programs such as DuPont Country Club, PGA Golf Club, Sea Island Golf Club, and Philadelphia Cricket Club. In his time as a PGA Golf Professional, Dobak taught amateurs of all levels. He also learned from some of the top instructors in the country including Jack Lumpkin, Todd Anderson, Mike Shannon, Gale Peterson, Charlie Sorrell, and Rick Martino. Dobak was fortunate to receive a Georgia PGA Chapter Assistant Professional of the Year Award for leadership (2009), and Horton Smith Awards for leadership and education in both the Georgia PGA (2010) and the Philadelphia PGA (2011).

Prior to coming on at La Salle as an assistant coach, Dobak was the head coach of the Harriton High School Rams golf program in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania for ten years. He was hired as the 9th Head Coach since 1958 and was asked to rebuild the golf program. Dobak quickly took the program from a 54% winning percentage to a 79% winning percentage and had a coaching record of 100-27-1. He coached one player to back-to-back individual conference championship wins, a first in program history. Dobak coached three players to the PIAA State Championship and two to the PIAA Regional Championship, more than any other golf coach in school history. He coached four players to compete on the NCAA level (three to the Division 1 level and one to the Division II level), more than any other golf coach in school history. Dobak was nominated for a National High School Coaches Association Golf Coach of the Year award (2017), a Positive Coaching Alliance Coach of the Year award (2019), and a USA Today Pennsylvania Golf Coach of the Year award (2020).

Having now coached on both the high school and college levels, Dobak brings a deeply rich and well-rounded understanding of the personal, academic, and athletic challenges of young student-athletes, and how to guide them forward. Dobak strives to be a versatile coach, educating himself on all facets of coaching such as golf fitness, golf psychology, nutrition, player development, and course management/tournament preparation.

Dobak grew up in West Chester, Pa. and graduated from and played golf for Unionville High School and York College of Pennsylvania. He is also a Pastor at Streamsong Church in Doylestown, Pa. He and his wife, Stephanie, and their daughters Mackenzie Mae and Sadie Claire live in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, just 7 miles from the La Salle campus.
