Emily Close was hired in August 2013 as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the La Salle rowing program, and will serve her second season with the team in 2014-15. She primarily assists with the first-year rowers.
Under Close's assistance, the freshmen-laden varsity eight boats each advanced to reps at the historic Dad Vail Regatta in May and posted across-the-board time improvements from the beginning to the end of the season.
Close started her collegiate coaching career in 2013-14 after wrapping up a four-year rowing career at Jacksonville University. She was a two-time team MVP and two-time team captain at JU, while volunteering at the Jacksonville Rowing Center.
She graduated in May 2013 with a degree in Psychology and is working on her Master's in Marriage & Family Therapy at La Salle.
