Matt Gosselin

Matt Gosselin completed his third season as an assistant coach with the La Salle cross country and track & field programs in 2018-19. Gosselin had successful experience on the coaching staffs at Gonzaga, Penn and Binghamton prior to joining the Explorers.

Gosselin spent the 2015-16 season as an assistant coach at Binghamton. The Bearcat men's cross country and men's outdoor track team each finished third at the America East Championship, while the men's indoor track squad finished second. Indoors, the Bearcats went one-two in the 800m and also had the runner-up in the mile. Outdoors, Binghamton had the 1,500m conference champion and the runner-up in the 5000m.

"I'm honored to be given the opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding program here at La Salle," Gosselin said. "I want to specifically thank Coach Tom Peterson for bringing me on board to his staff. Tom and I share an ambitious and competitive vision for this program. I look forward to working with the excellent group of student-athletes we have now. There is a great deal of talent on this team, and I am excited to help them achieve their goals."

Gosselin also coached two NCAA Regional qualifiers during the outdoor season at Binghamton, with Jesse Garn receiving honorable mention All-America honors in the 800m. Garn was also a U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier.

Prior to arriving at Binghamton, Gosselin was a volunteer assistant coach at Penn for two seasons. Gosselin was directly involved with coaching eight individual Ivy League Champions, four school record holders, and Penn's first conference cross country champion and sub-four minute miler in over 40 years (Tommy Awad).

Gosselin earned 12 varsity letters in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track at Gonzaga. He was a middle distance runner that ended his career among the top 10 for the Bulldogs in both the indoor and outdoor 800m and the outdoor 1,500m.

He graduated in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in human physiology. Following graduation, he spent time as a volunteer assistant coach at both Gonzaga and Saint Martin's University.

Gosselin continues to run competitively and won the 2012 Spokane half marathon and the 2013 Wenatchee marathon.

Gosselin has earned his Endurance Specialist Certification from the USTFCCCA Coaching Academy as well as his USATF level I certification.
