Matt Weaver begins his first season as a graduate assistant coach at La Salle University in 2017-18. Weaver brings a wealth of experience, both as an oarsman and coach, to the Explorers staff.
A four-year letterwinner at Penn, Weaver served as captain of the lightweight rowing team during the 2015-16 season.
As a freshman, he helped his boat to a bronze medal at the EARC Sprints and was an IRA All-Academic Team honoree as a senior in 2016.
He was clerk of communication for his team during the 2014-15 season and worked closely with coaches to help recruit student-athletes and adhere to Ivy League and ECAC rowing regulations.
On the coaching side, Weaver served as rowing coach at Winchester College in Winchester, England during the 2016-17 season. He worked to develop a year-long training and strength program for second-year rowers, and assisted with travel and logistics for the team.
The Roman Catholic High School product has also worked with the Crescent Boat Club in Philadelphia during the summers of 2013, 2016 & 2017.
Weaver graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and is enrolled in the master of arts in education program at La Salle.
