Getting To Know: Neelam Kumar

PHILADELPHIA

Forward/midfielder Neelam Kumar is a sophomore from Vancouver and is the next feature in the “Getting to know” series. She was selected for the 2009 A-10 All Rookie Team and has three goals and three assists in 2010.

Why did you choose La Salle? I wanted to go to an U.S. school so I could play field hockey. I liked that the size of the school was small not like most schools down here and not to mention the team is amazing!

Describe yourself in one word: Determined.

Why did you pick your jersey #? There were only a few numbers left but 2 is my backup number so it just worked out.

People might be surprised to know that... I’m deathly afraid of bugs.

What are your off the field hobbies and interests? I love to shop pretty much anywhere and I like listening to music.

What is the best advice you have received? To enjoy these 4 years in college because they fly by.

Highlight of your La Salle career thus far? Making the all rookie team last year.

Goals for the rest of the 2010 season? To make A10s and be the best I can this season.

Who influenced you to get involved with field hockey? My best friend's dad. He played on the Canadian national team and now coaches the women’s national team.

Place you would most like to visit/or favorite vacation spot? Fiji.

Quick Hits

Favorite Place to eat? Cactus Club… back in Vancouver.

Movie? Rush hour 2.

TV show? One Tree Hill… The older seasons.

Place to play in the A-10? Richmond, Va.
