Meghan McGlinchey has been named GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week for May 13. The senior broke the school 5,000m record with a 16:15.52 at the ECAC Championships on Friday evening. The finish earned McGlinchey the top prize in the event, edging Boston College's Liv Westphal by over seven seconds.
The senior's finish set aside the program's previous best time of 16:19.69, set by Rachel Papin in 2007. The West Deptford, N.J. native clocked a 16:35.96 in the race in last weekend's A-10 Championships, good for a second place finish in the event.
The weekly recognition marks the eighth time that McGlinchey has earned the nod. She most recently received the honor on November 12, 2012 after placing second at the NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional Championships in cross country.
