La Salle women's basketball rookie Jasmine Alston has been named this week's La Salle Student Athlete of the Week. Alston recorded her first career double-double against a 7-1 Villanova squad on Sunday, draining a team-high 16 points and pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds. She also dished out five of La Salle’s six assists in the contests. In two starts since replacing injured starter Khristin Lee, she has averaged 12.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg along with two blocked shots. Alston has been the team-high rebounder in two of the last three contests.
Alston and the rest of the Explorers return to action on Friday when they play FIU at Florida's Gator Holiday Classic in Gainesville, Fla.
