Jasmine Alston has been named this week's La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in La Salle's two wins to close out the regular season. She earned both Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week and Big 5 Player of the Week honors for her efforts this past week.
Alston tied a career high with 16 points, including 11 in the Explorers' comeback effort, in the come-from-behind 68-63 win at Duquesne. She also pulled down eight boards and dished out four assists in that contest. Alston added 11 points, eight rebounds and another four steals along with three huge steals in the Explorers' upset of second-place St. Bonaventure in Saturday's regular season finale.
Alston has been a pivotal member of this year's squad, helping the team to a 9-7 league record, the most A-10 wins since the 1996-97 season. She concluded the regular season leading all Atlantic 10 players with 1.9 steals per game and ranks seventh in the league in assists (3.9 apg).
Alston and the rest of the Explorers locked up the No. 7 seed in this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament, and will face No. 10 Saint Louis at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
