Liz Jordan has been named GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week for November 19.
The senior from Tobyhanna, PA swam to perfection this weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, earning first place finishes in all three individual events in which she entered. Jordan's first victory came in the 50 yard freestyle where she clocked in at 23.40, just thirteen one-hundredths of a second short of her own school record which she set at this past year's Atlantic 10 Championship. She picked up her second win in the 100 yard breaststroke, again nearly breaking her own school record in the process. Her winning time of 1:03.30 was only twenty-eight one-hundredths of a second shy of the record she set at this past year's A10 Champs.
But Jordan's most impressive swim of the weekend was the 100 yard freestyle. Leading the race from start to finish, Jordan touched the wall in a time of 50.82, over two-tenths of a second faster than the record set by Holly Biro at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship. With the acquisition of this record, Jordan now owns a staggering total of eight La Salle school records, four individuals and four relays.
In addition to her three individual victories, Jordan was a member of all four winning relays the women earned this weekend – the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays and the 200 and 400 yard medley relays – bringing her win total for the weekend to seven.
