The La Salle volleyball team was swept by a tough Saint Louis team on Friday evening at Tom Gola Arena.
The Billikens coasted in the first two games, winning by scores of 30-19 and 30-15. The Explorers put up a fight in game number three, but dropped a 30-24 decision.
With the loss, La Salle falls to 9-15 overall and 1-5 in the conference. Saint Louis improves to 14-5 and 3-2.
The La Salle offense again looked sluggish, as the Explorers only managed 23 kills for the match and hit a dismal .045. Jackie Kushman led the blue and gold with seven, while Christa Dominick and Rachel Stemper each had four apiece.
The Billikens' Emily Galbraith opened the match with a service ace, setting the tempo for the rest of the night. La Salle had no answer for the Saint Louis duo of Sammi McCloud and Bridget Fonke, who each had 14 kills. Fonke came into the match leading the Atlantic 10 in kills per game, with 4.64.
Amy McKeon and Christa Dominick held their own against the strong Saint Louis attack, recording five and three blocks, respectively.
Kayla Beck led all players with 16 digs.
The Explorers return to action tomorrow afternoon when they face Duquesne at Tom Gola Arena.
