KINGSTON, RI - The La Salle University Women's Soccer team had seven corner kicks, but could not find the net on any of them and in the 81st minute Rhode Island tallied an insurance goal to lift the Rams to a 2-0 win in Atlantic 10 action at Friday night.

The Rams (10-3-2, 4-1-1 A-10) got on the board in the 28th minute when Colleen Dowd headed a ball off a free kick by Dora Larusdottir to give them a 1-0 lead.

La Salle (8-7-0, 2-4-0 A-10) managed just one shot in the first half, but had three corner kicks. In the second, the upped that to four corners and had five shots - three on goal, but none could find the goal.

Kristin Hextall came closest in the 59th minute, as she her shot was saved and she was able to try again on the rebound, but that one was blocked.

Rhode Island's Deb Nelson scored her 10th goal of the season off assists from Larusdottir and Taylor Kinsley with 9:19 left in the game to give the Rams and insurance tally.

Melissa Sanger made seven saves in net for the Explorers, but suffered the loss.

The Explorers will stay in the Northeast and will take on Massachusetts, Sunday with a 1 PM.
