Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle Explorers (2-8-1, 0-2) fell 2-1 to the Dayton Flyers Friday night after a promising second half yielded a score by sophomore Jim Guntle (Great Falls, VA) to give the blue and gold the lead. The Explorers could not hold on as Dayton went on to score twice.

It took Dayton some time to get their engines started, but once they did there was no stopping the Flyers as they notched two late goals to grab their first A-10 win of the season.

The Explorers entered the second half hungry for a score and that's just what they got just 13 minutes in as senior Joe Heavey (Coatesville, PA) lofted a pass that Guntle headed into the right side of the net to give La Salle a 1-0 advantage.

The Flyers tied it up at 1-1 with less than 15 minutes remaining as sophomore Alex Torda (Dallas, TX) notched a goal past Explorer junior keeper Andrew Bernhard (Lancaster, PA).

Dayton did not stop there- the Flyers got another goal- this time by sophomore Jeff Popella (Dayton, OH) with a left side score just five minutes later to go up 2-1.

Bernhard had nine saves for the Explorers, while senior Zac Gibbons (Loveland, CO) had nine for the Flyers.

The Explorers will look to bounce back quickly as they host the Xavier Musketeers on Sunday, October 21st at 1:00 PM.
