Box Score
Facing Dayton on Saturday afternoon, the La Salle volleyball team knew they would have to be on top of their game if they were going to knock off the number 15 team in the nation.
Unfortunately for the Explorers, an upset was not in the cards, as Dayton prevailed by a score of 3-0.
Jackie Kushman led the way for the Explorers, tallying nine kills on the afternoon. Kayla Beck led La Salle with 12 digs.
The home team came out fired up, thanks in part to a vocal student crowd. La Salle responded, taking an early lead in the first game. However, four consecutive service aces by Jamie-Lee Richards silenced the Explorer faithful. Dayton went on to win by a score of 30-21.
The Flyers would take games two and three in rather convincing fashion, winning by scores of 30-18 and 30-17.
Yvonne Marten led the Flyers with nine kills.
As a team, Dayton hit .283 for the match, compared to just .059 for La Salle.
With the win, the Flyers improved to a perfect 19-0 (6-0) on the season. The Explorers fell to 9-13 overall and 1-3 in the Atlantic 10.
La Salle returns to action this Tuesday evening when they face off against city-rival Temple at McGonigle Hall at 7 p.m.
