Alfano, Lipovsky Pace Explorers in Final XC Showdown of the Fall

PHILADELPHIA, PA- Running in their final meet of the fall season, the Explorer cross country squads dashed to strong performances at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Van Cortland Park, NY on Saturday.  The men took 10th-place overall, while the women took 11th racing against some of the best competition in the Northeast.

Junior David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) crossed the line first for the Explorers with a fifth-place finish in the men's five mile race in a time of 25:25.  Junior Ellis Wilson (Coatesville, PA) was the next blue and gold finisher in 38th-place in a time of 25:59. 

In the women's 5K event, senior Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ) grabbed an eighth-place finish in 18:12 to lead the Explorers.  The next La Salle runner would be junior Mary Clare Parrot (Sayville, NY) in 61st-place in 19:35.

The other men to finish for La Salle included: senior Bill Ceriello in 72nd-place, sophomore Matt Mitchell (Hatboro, PA) in 74th-place, freshman Andrew Wagoner (Silver Spring, MD) in 83rd-place, sophomore Robert Ricketts (Philadelphia, PA) in 105th-place, sophomore Justin Keller (New Cumberland, PA) in 118th-place, senior Tom Ranalli (Downingtown, PA) in 120th-place, sophomore Rollin Deas (Verona, NJ) in 124th-place, senior Kyle Luke (Wyoming, DE) in 137th-place and senior James Holzwarth (Willow Grove, PA) in 139th-place.

The female finishers for the Explorers included: freshman Veronica Shanoski (Ringoes, NJ) in 74th-place, freshman Kathleen Boland (Drexel Hill, PA) in 81st-place, freshman Colleen Boland (Drexel Hill, PA) in 88th-place, sophomore Maureen Benner (Drexel Hill, PA) in 92nd-place and freshman Margaret McFadden (Allentown, PA) in 93rd-place. 

Notably missing from the event was Explorer standout Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA), who will compete at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana tomorrow-November 19th at 12:55 PM EST.  The event will be broadcast live, and may be accessed by clicking here.
