Box Score
Richmond, VA- Looking to end a two-game skid in A-10 play, the La Salle Explorers (6-10-1, 4-4) did exactly that as they worked the Richmond Spiders (4-13-1, 1-7) over 2-0 Friday night. Junior forward Kevin Lydic (Marlton, NJ) scored the eventual game-winner with just two minutes left in the first half to give the Explorers a lead they would not relinquish.
The Explorers struggled to get warmed up in the first half, playing on a slick, unfriendly turf surface. La Salle took seven shots on goal in the first half, while the Spiders shot just six. Lydic came alive for the Explorers late in the first stanza, knocking the first goal of the evening past Spider goalie Eric Sciocchetti to make it 1-0. Senior midfielder Devin Ladd (Lebanon, CT) and junior midfielder Brian Barry (Arnold, MD) assisted on the goal.
The Explorer attack carried over into the second half as senior captain Jeremy Ortiz (Mount Laurel, NJ) scored at 54:37, assisted by junior Daniel Heavey (Coatesville, PA) and Barry. The Spiders could not string anything together as they took the 2-0 loss.
Explorer junior goalie Andrew Bernhard (Lancaster, PA) had five saves in his second shutout on the season.
La Salle continues their road trip on Sunday, November 11th when they take on the George Washington University Colonials at 1PM for their final regular season game.
