La Salle Family loses 40's Hoopster Joseph Greenberg

The La Salle University athletics family mourns the loss of Joseph "Hank" Greenberg who died on Saturday. 

Hank Greenberg was a member of the La Salle College basketball team from 1946 until 1949. He scored 200 points in the 1947-48 season and racked up 133 points the following year. When he was team captain in 1949, Hank received the La Salle Alumni Association's Joseph Schmitz Trophy, which is awarded to the senior athlete who exemplifies the highest traditions of La Salle in loyalty and courage.

 

He was one of four members of the Greenberg family to play hoops at La Salle including brother Joe (1953-56) and his children Chip (1982-86) and Kelly (1985-89)

of Abington, PA passed away at his home in Rydal, PA on Dec. 8, 2007. He was the husband of Mary (nee McGowan) Greenberg. Father of 12 children; Mary Kay Reed (John) of Stewartstown, PA, Carol Dinneen (Mike) of Warminster, Joe (Sharon) of Fairless Hills, Jimmy of North Hills, Sue Fedorowicz (Joe) of Abington, Jerry (Ann Marie) of Wyndmoor, Greg (Megan) of Meadowbrook, Tuck (Denise) of Maple Glen, Chip (Jane) of North Wales, John of Maple Glen, Kelly of Boston, MA and Kathy May (Brent) of Rydal, PA. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren. He is the brother of Charles Greenberg and the late Nancy Krag. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Wednesday eve. Dec. 12 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 1500 Marian Rd., Abington, 19001 and Thurs. Dec. 13 from 9 to 10 A.M. followed by a 10 A.M. Mass in the Church. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cem. In lieu of flowers contributions to Our Lady Help of Christians Memorial Fund at the above address would be appreicated by the family.
