PHILADELPHIA, PA- The La Salle University Department of Athletics honored one of their own today, as La Salle's first volleyball coach Marge Kriebel retired after working for 30 years for the Explorers.
Kriebel was inducted into La Salle's 'Hall of Athletes' in 2000, after founding volleyball at the University in 1972 and coaching until 1982. She held a career record of 110-83-1 during her time as coach, good enough for a .570 winning percentage.
During her tenure at La Salle, Kriebel has seen more than one changing of the guard as she has worked for four athletic directors, including current Director of Athletics Dr. Tom Brennan.
In 1982 Kriebel received the Mary O'Connor Award, named after La Salle's first Coordinator of Women's Athletics, for her dedication to women's athletics. She has stayed involved in volleyball in several capacities including as an assignor for the Philadelphia Board of College Officials and for the Philadelphia Archdiocese of Catholic high schools.
Kriebel currently resides in Harleysville, PA and finished at La Salle as secretary to Brother John Kane in La Salle's Academic Support Services office. The La Salle University community wishes to extend Marge their sincerest "thank you" for all her hard work over the years, and good luck in her future endeavors.
