Kingston, RI - The La Salle University men's indoor track and field team finished in second place at the Atlantic 10 Championships hosted this afternoon by the University of Rhode Island.
By winning the mile in 4.09.30 and the 3000m in 8.27.12 and running the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay that finished in second, senior sensation Sean Quigley was named Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
Other Explorer individual winners were Billy Rhea in the 500m (1.05.18), Korey Edwards in the 800m (1.56.46) and Ryan Moseley whose effort of 7.32m was strong enough to earn him an A-10 title in the long jump.
The 4x400m relay team of James Tschabo, Jared Davis, Andrew Maxwell and Rhea won the event in 3.21.56.
The Explorers finished with a team total of 162 points behind host Rhode Island who won the title with 190 points.
Rachel Papin, Danielle Schopf, Adriana Boyle and Carolyn Lipovsky were just a few among several to finish with top performances at the Women's Championships in Rhode Island this weekend, as the team would come away with a fourth place finish among 12 schools.
Papin and Schopf each finished in their respective spots of first (9.46.29) and second place (9.58.73) in the 3000 meter run, while Lipovsky finished out in second place in the 800 meter run (2.17.95), with Boyle right behind in fourth (2.20.22). Papin walked away with a first place finish in the one mile run (4.54.33), with Lipovsky also finishing fifth in the mile run(5.03.20).
Other top performers were Jennifer Surabian, who came in third in the 1000 meter (2.58.19), and Karen Proulx, who placed sixth in the 5000 meter (18.01.25). The team also won first place in the 4x800 Meter Relay (Boyle, Papin, Schopf, Lipovsky).
