Softball Comes Up Short Against Fordham in First Conference Losses

March 25, 2007

Final Stats

BRONX, NY - Sophomore Kelli Curcio brought in two RBIs in the third inning of the first game, giving the the Explorers a 2-2 tie with the Fordham Rams this afternoon.  Those would be the only runs of the day for La Salle, however, as they dropped a 3-2, 9-0 double header to Fordham University.

The Rams had consistant batting throughout the two games, earning seven hits in the first game and eleven in the second.  They took a 2-0 lead in the second inning after Megan Hansen's double brought in the first run, followed by Megan Waldron's score off of a wild pitch.  The Explorers quickly tied the game up in the following frame from Curcio's homerun, but the Rams answered back with a third inning RBI to take the winning run.  Laura Dezolt struck out three of 24 batters and gave up seven hits.

In the second game, the Rams continued to hit well, getting eleven hits and bringing in nine runs by the end of the fourth inning.  The game ended in the fifth when Curcio grounded out to third base for the third out.

Next up the Explorers are on the road against Monmouth University, playing a double header this Tuesday starting at 3:00PM.
