Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA - In the first game of a double-header against Saint Joseph's at La Salle's Good Shepherd field on Sunday afternoon, the Explorers dropped the game by a score of 5-1.

After three and half scoreless innings, Laura Dezolt doubled to left field and advanced to third base on a passed ball before she scored on a catcher's error to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead.

That lead would be short-lived as the Hawks opened up the scoring in the top of the fifth.  After loading the bases, Saint Joseph's Kate Falaca as did Beka Shumock after both singled.  The inning closed out with Kelsey Moir scoring an unearned run to boost the Hawks to a 3-1 lead.

After the Explorers managed just one hit in the bottom of the fifth, the Hawks got back to the scoring as they posted two runs to put the score at 5-1.

On the mound for the Explorers, Laura Beth McCreesh pitched all seven innings and struck out two batters while walking three Hawks.  For Saint Joseph's, Lauren Cognigni also pitched seven innings and struck out five while walking two.

The teams will close out Sunday with the second game of the double-header.
