Explorers Split Conference Doubleheader Against Bonnies

April 23, 2007

Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle Explorers (13-18, 6-7 A-10) were down 2-0 nothing in the sixth inning of the second game when Kelli Curcio and Mary Pat Conville managed a double a piece to give La Salle one run and a shot at the lead.

Impressive fielding by the Bonnies kept the Explorers from adding to the score, however, and after a La Salle fielding error in the bottom of the sixth, St. Bonaventure brought in their third and final run of the doubleheader.

Laura Dezolt pitched two complete games, facing 47 batters and striking out 14.  She allowed just eight hits in both games.

The teams managed four hits a piece in the first game, but it was freshman Angelina Bisbiglia's in the second inning that counted the most.  After reaching first on a Bonnie error, a ground ball off the bat of Michelle Sullivan advanced DeZolt to second base.  At the following at bat, a fielder's choice allowed DeZolt to take home while Bisbiglia was put out at second.

Although six out of eight hits would come after that score, it would be the one and only run of the 1-0 La Salle victory.

The Explorers are back home this week, when they take on the Drexel Dragons starting at 3:00PM this Wednesday.
