Explorers Sweep Rider, 3-0

For the second time in five days, the La Salle volleyball team has defeated Rider. This time, the Explorers won in a clean sweep, 3-0.

 

Sophomore Rachel Stemper once again led the way for the blue and gold, recording a team-high 11 kills. Freshman Kayla Beck led the team in digs with 15, while Danielle DiMarco chipped in with 10.

 

The Explorers dominated the first game, racing out to an 11-3 lead en route to a 30-23 win. La Salle posted a hitting percentage of .233 for the opening game. 

 

Game two was much closer, as the teams battled back and forth before Rider grabbed a 28-26 lead. Thanks to kills by Stemper and Amy McKeon, La Salle scored the final four points of the game for a 30-28 victory.

 

La Salle would escape game three with another close win. With the score tied at 28-28, Stemper knocked down kill number 11 for the match to give the Explorers the lead for good.

 

Senior Erin Sullivan contributed six kills and three services aces, as La Salle improved their season record to 3-2.

 

The Explorers will host the La Salle Invitational this weekend. On Friday, La Salle goes to battle with St. Peter's at 2:00 p.m. and UMBC at 7:00 p.m. They will take on Loyola (MD) and Lafayette on Saturday.
