Philadelphia, PA - Graduate student Ed Baynes (Verona, NJ) led the way for the men and senior Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ) paced the women as La Salle competed in the Navy Invitational Saturday morning. The men scored a third-place finish overall, while the women took fourth. The Explorers finished first among other A-10 schools competing in the meet on the men's side. Louisville took home both the men's and women's crowns.
Baynes ran the 8K at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) course in 24:57:20 for La Salle to finish in 12th-place. Other top finishers for La Salle included junior Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ) in 15th-place, senior Joe Fedorowicz (Abington, PA) at 19th-place, and junior David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) in 20th-place.
Lipovsky crossed the line in 12th as she ran the women's 6K in 23:01:00. Close behind her were senior Christa Plummer (Quakertown, PA) in 20th-place and junior Mary Clare Parrot (Sayville, NY) in 25th-place.
The Explorers will compete in the Notre Dame Invitational on September 28th for a matchup against some of the best cross country programs in the nation. Explorer runners will also compete at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, PA on September 28th.
