Volleyball Stung By Delaware State

DOVER, DE - The La Salle volleyball team got off to a hot start, but eventually fell to the host Delaware State Hornets on Tuesday evening, 3-1.

 

The Explorers won the first game by a 30-26 score, before falling in the next three, 34-32, 30-21 and 30-25.

 

Senior Stephanie Owen posted a double-double, knocking down 15 kills and adding 10 digs. Sophomore Rachel Stemper also had 15 kills, while classmate Danielle DiMarco chipped in with 10.

 

Erin Sullivan had a team-high 42 assists in the losing effort.

 

La Salle hit .250 and .304 in the games one and two, respectively, but hit a wall, as their percentages fell to .053 and .146 in the final two games.

 

Ayana Dyette had 22 kills for the Hornets, who hit .333 for the match.

 

The Explorers return to Tom Gola Arena this Saturday for a pair of matches. At 2 p.m. they take on Quinnipiac, before facing Howard at 6 p.m.
