At La Salle, the Explorers breezed through their first match of the season, downing the Marauders of Millersville, 7-0. The action started in doubles with George Gennaoui and Jon Maula teaming up to defeat Drew Slocum and Carbon Holland of Millersville, 8-2. Andy Petrusky and Chris Butera wrapped up the doubles with an 8-5 victory over Dusty Speicher and Devin Fry.
In singles, the Marauders were still no match for the Explorers. George Gennaoui, making his collegiate debut, rolled through his match at number one, winning 6-2, 6-0 over Slocum. Sophomore Matt Rivera cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at number two while senior Eric Glick won at number three, 6-4, 6-3. At number four, sophomore Jon Maula won 6-0, 6-0 over Devin Fry. Transfer student Ryan Knarr shut out Sean Pyle at number five to further solidify the Explorers dominance, 6-0, 6-0. The number six singles and three doubles were forfeited to La Salle.
"I thought we came out and executed well against Millersville," said head coach Ed Colfer. "I am looking forward to the fall season with the depth of talented players we have this season, and expect us to go out and play well each and every match."
