Explorers Fare Well in Gotham Cup

New York, NY-  The La Salle Track and Field team made every event count in a non-team scoring meet at the NYC Gotham Cup- held at The Armory and hosted by New York University on Friday.  Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA) returned to action by winning the men's One-Mile run in 4.02.80, while teammate David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) took fifth-place in 4.12.63.  Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA) took top La Salle honors in the women's One-Mile run in fourth-place in 5.00.47, while Christa Plummer (Quakertown, PA) grabbed the number eight spot in 5.10.66.

 

Other highlights for the men included Steve Rendall (Deptford, NJ) dashing to a second-place finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.08.  The women's 4x800 team of Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ), Adriana Boyle (Havertown, PA), Nicole O'Dea (Morton, PA) and Colleen Boland (Drexel Hill, PA) took the top-spot in 9.32.52.  Lipovsky also finished the 1000-meter run in seventh with a time of 2.57.19.    

 

The Explorers will head north for their next meet at the Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University on January 25th-26th.  The blue and gold will also compete at the John Covert Invitational at Lehigh University on January 25th-26th.
