Explorers Fall to Dayton on the Road, 3-0

Dayton, OH – The La Salle volleyball team ended their two-game road trip in Ohio on Saturday with a loss as they fell to the Dayton Flyers, 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-8).

La Salle looked to win the first set on the evening as they kept things competitive midway through the first set. The Explorers tallied four points on five chances to close Dayton’s lead, 19-10. The Flyers eventually went on to win the first set and then won the next two which earned them the victory.

The Explorers only managed to rack up 16 total kills in the match, having senior Christa Dominick and junior Danielle DiMarco contribute four kills apiece. DiMarco also added five digs as well as senior Jackie Kushman and junior Rachel Stemper.

Senior Tammi Jones led the way for the Explorers in the dig column with nine and sophomore Carly Conlon totaled six assists.

Dayton, who entered the match undefeated in the conference, looked like a polished team. For the Flyers, sophomore Kacie Hausfeld led with a match-high 34 assists which totaled more than double of La Salle’s production. Hausfeld also went on to tally eight digs, three service aces and two assisted blocks. Sophomore Lindsay Fletemier led all participants in the match with 17 kills.

The Explorers return to action on Friday, October 17 when they get set to host the Charlotte 49ers at 7:00. Friday’s match will feature “Dig for the Cure” where the Explorers will donate money for every dig that is tallied on the evening. For more information, please visit www.digforthecure.org.
