PHILADELPHIA, PA –­­­ The La Salle University Explorers and Temple Owls played nearly 44 minutes of scoreless field hockey before Dannah Brehm caged the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 Temple victory at La Salle’s Hank DeVincent Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Explorers (5-10,0-2), whose first two conference games of the season resulted in a pair of losses to city rivals, did not take a corner in the first half and spent much of the first 35 minutes on defense while the Owls (6-7, 2-0) took four first half corners.

The game-winner came eight minutes and 55 seconds into the second half when Charise Young settled a ball and shoveled it to Brehm who launched a blast from 16 feet past Emma Ruth.

The Explorer cranked up the pressure after the goal with an aggressive substitution pattern of Explorers but could not find the answer and earned only one corner.

La Salle continues their Atlantic 10 schedule when they host #17 Massachusetts on Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
