Dukes Defeat Explorers, 3-1

Pittsburgh, PA – The La Salle volleyball team wrapped up its two-game road swing at Duquesne on Sunday, unfortunately the Dukes left them winless on their recent trip as the Explorers fell at the A.J. Palumbo Center, 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 18-25, 13-25).

Senior Jackie Kushman was one kill shy of achieving a double-double on the afternoon, tying team-highs with nine kills and 18 digs. Senior Christa Dominick also added nine kills while also tallying three of her team’s 15 total blocks.

Senior Tammi Jones and junior Rachel Stemper compiled 35 of their team’s 74 digs against Duquesne, and sophomore Carly Conlon and freshman Kourtney Clark totaled 25 of their team’s 31 assists.

For the Dukes, junior Jessica Artman registered one of the match’s two double-doubles, tying match-highs with 13 kills and 18 digs. Freshman Brittany Poling was the second player to record a double-double, rounding out the afternoon with 10 kills and 11 digs. Overall, Duquesne gathered a total of 54 kills and 90 digs.

The Explorers (4-15, 1-4) take another break from conference action as they host Wagner on Tuesday, October 7. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
